The Global Healthy Living Foundation provides education, support, research, and advocacy on psoriasis. Psoriasis is much more than just a skin condition. It is an inflammatory skin disorder that is thought to be driven by an overactive immune system. Skin cells turn over much more quickly in people with psoriasis, which causes telltale  red, itchy, flaky skin patches and thick, pitted fingernails. For some people, psoriasis is mild and can be well-managed with topical treatments, but for others, the condition can have a profound impact on your daily life and long-term health. About 30 percent of people with psoriasis will develop psoriatic arthritis, an inflammatory form of arthritis. We believe that the more you know about psoriasis, the better you can manage it.
